Once the great trading routes from Northern Europe to Byzantium and the Middle ears ran through Novgorod and across Russia.
For hundreds of years numerous people covered this route. Generations of intrepid travelers and merchants plied the distant Taiga rivers, heaving their vessels and goods overland where necessary.
The rivers were highways.
Today the villages along the bank are vanishing. people just go with the flow and something hardy reminds of the greatness of waterways of ancient Rus
